Here’s the 1951 Fender Esquire originally owned by “Gatemouth” Brown and used on his 1954 instrumental classic “Okie Dokie Stomp”. This guitar was personally given to Gate by Leo Fender in the early ’50’s. My dad bought it in Houston in the early ’60’s at Red Novak’s music shop and has owned it ever since. I played with Gatemouth quite a few times through the years. When I joined him in 1991 on the Austin City Limits/Texas Connection taping he was doing, he signed the headstock to me-“Little Jake”…..still sounds amazing and what a piece of history!
